Re: August 29, 2006

It's a Long Way to Tallahassee Florida, but Mary Beth & Shelly managed to make the trek to show up at the Wolf & Firkin in downtown Toronto right on time. Mary Beth taught us all that "I will Survive" is a rockin' number to sing in a pub filled with potentially good cheer. The first clue to Mary Beth's talent was when she corrected Daniel The Bartender and myself as we took a stab at singing the Flinstones Theme Song. Somehow the melody to the line "You'll have a gay old time" seemed a little outdated, but she managed to save it with her exacting voice. Meanwhile, Ally is busy reading the Now Magazine, cover to cover, as she waits for more wise women to come. Ren, Vera and Teresa show up with Jackie & Ray. Suddenly, there we are in songwriting mode, desperately trying to find rhymes for common nouns....well sorta like that.... Then here come 2 fire fighters from Illinois. They are here for the convention that's in town, but for now their main concerns are headed straight for the bar. Throughout most of the night Northern Ontario is well represented by Alex & his wife. Of course Daniel always represents Thunder Bay, however the rest of Thunder Bay doesn't know about this yet. Christopher Hollow stepped up to the plate with a few new songs...thanks Hollow. "The Classic Duncan" sounded mighty fine as well. Other than that Debbie Rocks, Gandie Rules and thanks Blake, for moving the table. Until next time.....the adventure continues....
