"For last year's words belong to last year's language....
I ended up playing upstairs at the Wolf & Firkin last night. I met Mike (my best friend for the night) and Genise from Southern California; they are a great couple. Mike is an all around musician. His main instrument is trumpet. The "Great" Christopher Hollow popped in with Debbie (with her new Canon camera). It was nice to meet her friend Laura. Pamela, Albion and Sherry were on staff. I thank all the club owners and patrons of all the establishments where I am allowed to perform. I never take the privledge for granted. I would especially like to thank Billy Lehman for being a great man to work for in 2004. Your fairness and kindness to the musicians who work for you is well documented in pub conversations all around Toronto. Happy New Year to Doug, CRC and Catherine (some new blog friends in the USA). Happy New Year to "Marg's Gang". Happy New Year to Lilly. Happy New Year to Ava and parents and to the rest of my family. Happy New Year Irene. Happy New Year to one and all. I am looking forward to a great New Year's Party at Spezzo in Richmond Hill where I will be performing with my favourite musician of 2004. CHEERS!
I'm taking the cadillac ride up to Sudbury, Ontario on Friday. There are
I'm on my way to play in Toronto to perform my upcoming show at The Wolf & Firkin. Am I nervous? No, I'm not nervous. I love feeling nervous but now I play my gigs and I feel I'm good at what I do. I certainly miss playing shows where you plan, scheme, and write with a group of great musicians then invite a wack of people to come and check out the new noise that will soon transform the imaginations of all future generations to come. That feeling of preparation, mixed with edge vision and power, is fantastic even after you find out that the future generations were unable to attend the show. I am Augblog. I am a pub entertainer. I work alone in small spaces. The thing is I don't work alone. The audience is my orchestra, and it is a different orchestra every time. I love it! It's just that....I don't get nervous....and I kinda wish I did.
Last night at Aw Shucks 4 ladies set the house on fire during my last set. I included a picture of Monika dancing. She danced full out, no breaks for 40 min straight. I've never seen anything like this before..the adventure continues....
Thanks for the comments Donna and Debbie. Here is the picture you requested from last night at Aw Shucks in Aurora. Cheers!
What does a grown man named Spanky, an Industrial Inspector named Nicole, a member of the Upper Canada Law Society, a born leader named Joel, a professional heckler from Copper Cliff named Tim, etc. do for fun? The answer is: They work at the Ministry Of Labour, and they know how to let loose. Last night Open Luigi (AugBlog in disguise) welcomed them with open arms. Eric showed up with the "Marg" gang, and did some jammin'. Thanks! Bob had yet another look. Joe, from Sault Ste Marie closed the place. Have a safe trip up north tomorrow. Wendy, Paul, and Brian performed as well. Next Tuesday I'm hoping for a full house. It's The Wolf & Firkin's Christmas Party. Bring your talent. Mike brought Doctor Adam in to get sung about and Alicia was filling in for Ashley behind the bar.....the adventure continues....
